Jordan Valley Information Center reaches Milestone

News-Leader

10/19/2007

Construction is complete on the corporate floors of Missouri State University’s Roy Blunt Jordan Valley Innovation Center (JVIC).

Six of JVIC’s corporate partners – Applied Systems Intelligence, Brewer Science, Crosslink, Nantero, St. John’s Health System and Unidym – are now either already operating within the facility or moving into new state-of-the-art laboratories.

In those laboratories, Missouri State faculty, staff and students will work alongside corporate scientists to develop new groundbreaking technologies.

As the result of a $4 million Office of Naval Research grant, Brewer Science is bringing a new nano-sensor project to the facility; $1.4 million of that will be used by JVIC scientists to develop a new set of technologies, including both equipment and materials, to address the problems associated with packaging the very delicate nano-sensor devices.

In addition, JVIC is working with St. John’s on its cornea replacement project – an initiative that has realized significant progress in the last few months.

JVIC’s Phase I opened officially on May 30, 2007

Construction on Phase II, which will include high-tech research space as well as advanced prototype manufacturing space, is ongoing.

Space will be created to house JVIC’s Center for Biomedical and Life Sciences, additional materials science research spaces and a large clean room.
