Mission Statement

The Center for Applied Science and Engineering (CASE) at Missouri State University is committed to the development and support of advanced materials research industries in Missouri. Target areas of interest include: Carbon based electronics & devices, Materials research and characterization, various MEMS sensors and systems fabrication. To help fulfill this mission CASE provides: engineering and technical support, “high risk” research and development, a host of materials testing services, and unique educational opportunities for current and perspective employees. Recognizing the increased importance of Homeland Security, CASE works closely with government and industrial partners to identify opportunities for enhancing technologies and processes that can impact public safety and security.

Objectives

  • CASE will provide resources, including education, facilities, and equipment, to help Missouri-based industry develop carbon based electronics and materials research and characterization.
  • CASE, in working with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, will provide advanced carbon based electronics to support existing industries located in Southwest Missouri, and, help attract new industries to the area.
  • CASE will conduct industry-oriented 'high-risk' research and technology development to help reduce the industry assumed risk in taking a concept to a product.
  • CASE will promote the commercialization of university-generated technology to ensure a more rapid transition to competitive global markets in a way that does not emphasize the benefit to the university, but, also considers the interests and risks assumed by industry.
  • CASE will provide analytical and testing capabilities to industrial firms on a state-wide basis.
  • CASE will increase the visibility of efforts in Southwest Missouri to develop and support advanced carbon based electronics and materials research companies to benefit of our local economy and infrastructure.
